Our class book this week is 'Silly Billy' by Anthony Browne. Click on the link below to listen to the story being read. Read along and listen carefully so that you can complete your work on purple mash this week!
Purple class star of the week!
As we cannot do our star of the week at school, I will be picking a star of the week each week based on all the effort and hard work that I can see in your purple mash work. Make sure you come and check every Friday to see if it is you!
Star of the week: Week 5
Star of the week goes to a boy who is on purple mash every single day! He is always completing his online learning and is trying his very best. I can see how much he loves learning and he has been doing very well in his numeracy quizzes. He also created a great exercise poster! Well done Fisayo, you have been a superstar this week!
Well done to those of you who have completed the half term project, I received some lovely pictures and models and especially well done to those of you who researched what a nocturnal animal is!
The winner is AMARI! Well done for making your colourful bat it looks amazing! :)
Amaris definition of a nocturnal animal:
"A nocturnal animal is an animal that sleeps during the day and is active during the night. A hedgehog, a bat, an owl and raccoon are nocturnal animals." Well done! :D
Here is a picture of Amaris's bat
Half term project!
Next half term we are going to be looking at 'Nocturnal Animals'.
Your job is to research what this might mean before I explain it next week, and to make a model of a nocturnal animal.
You could use anything, paper, card, cardboard, sponges, left over toilet roll, play dough, paper plates anything! If you manage to find out the definition of a nocturnal animal email me on purple mash and see if you are correct! :)
It is mental health awareness week which means we need to be keeping an eye on our thoughts and feelings (we should always be doing this anyway!).
This week we are focusing on KINDNESS.
What do you think it means to be kind? Have you done something that was kind this week or has someone been kind to you?
Activity: Make a kindness card for someone that is always kind to you, it could be someone at home, it could be someone at school or it could even be someone in the community like police, a doctor a shop keeper! Talk about how they are kind and how it makes you feel! An extra thing you could also do is to email a friend on purple mash to say thank you for being kind.
Ask an adult if you are allowed to send photos of your creations on purple mash and I will put the best one up on the class page!
You might also want to try meditation this week, or staying active. Here are some links:

Easter holiday homework!
As we have been learning about habitats, I would like you to find a shoebox at home and make a habitat for an animal of your choice! Research your animal and find out where it lives; what does your animal need to survive? What food does it eat? What of weather does it need?
It could be a beach habitat, a pond, a woodland, the savannah - you choose!
I have included some examples for you to see below.
I have also included an activity timetable below with some fun things to do if you are running out of ideas at home!
Have fun, stay safe and have a lovely Easter holiday! :)

Purple class's assembly
Thank you all for coming to watch Purple class's assembly! The children took such an interest in the world and learning about their friends cultures that we decided to celebrate it in our assembly.
Children in need
Thank you for dressing your children in pyjamas. We raised a great amount of money and had so much fun!
Marmalade Sandwiches for harvest
For harvest, Purple class made marmalade sandwiches to share out just like Paddington! We used two slices of bread, buttered each slide and then spread some marmalade to make our sandwiches.
We think Paddington Bear would approve!
Our topic this term in London. We have learnt about Paddington and his journey around London ready for our London trip in November. The children have written their own stories about Paddingtons journey from Peru to London and have written their own adventures around London. Purple class know of lots of landmarks such as Big Ben, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, the river Thames, St Pauls Cathedral and many more!
Numeracy
This term, Purple class have practiced their place value using Numicon and Dienes.
