Physical Education

Welcome

At Brettenham Primary School we believe that physical education, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is a unique and vital contributor to a pupil’s physical development and well-being. A broad and balanced physical education curriculum is intended to provide for pupils increasing self-confidence in their ability to manage themselves and their bodies within a variety of movement situations. Progressive learning objectives, combined with sympathetic and varied teaching approaches, provide stimulating, enjoyable, satisfying and appropriately challenging learning experiences for all pupils. The selection of suitably differentiated and logically developed tasks, will help pupils, irrespective of their innate ability, enjoy success and be motivated to further develop their individual potential and take part in lifelong physical activity.

Sports Personality 2018

Congratulations to Nyrel Ponteen our winner of Brettenham's Sport's Personality 2018!

Here are the words from his class teacher:

A deep thinker and committed learner, Nyrel really understands that PE is as much about the thinking, the analysing and the evaluating as it is about the doing. While always focussed on improving his own techniques, Nyrel is also able to provide valuable and constructive feedback to his classmates, and is an enthusiastic participant in any group activity, discussion or game.

Nyrel’s physical skills across all areas of PE are informed by the dedicated and thoughtful approach that he brings to all his learning, and therefore are excellent. Well done Nyrel!

Outdoor and Adventure

Year 6 traveled to North Yorkshire for a week of OAA, this included canoeing, tree climbing,zip-lining, abseiling, orienteering and bush craft. This was a fantastic experience for the children challenging them to come out of their comfort zone to problem solve, work as team and take on leadership roles. The children had an amazing time and the teachers are very proud of them all.
